The International Eight Meter Association (IEMA) informs about their decisions on the programme for the coming years:

2004 World Cup Geneva    (4-10 July)
2005 World Cup Toronto, Canada (RCYC)
  European Championships in Flensburg (June)
2006 World Cup at Lindau, Bodensee
2007 World Cup & Centenery Celebrations Scotland, Royal Northern & Clyde
2008 Open (Bid recieved from KNS, Norway)

They write as follows:

"The Bodensee fleet has supported every single int. 8-Metre event since 1996 with 2 to 8 boats annually. Their fleet is strong and very well organised and the enthusiasm and commitment of the Lindau SC made a strong vote of support from both Fred Meyer and myself an obvious one.

In view of the 2005 event, we decided for Flensburg as the Kiel YC has not been able to come forward with a plan, contact Fred Meyer or myself, or respond to the letter sent in 2003. Flensburg was again very motivated and enthusiastic, a combination with the Robbe & Berking Classic week is an exciting option as tune-up.

The sequence was also inspired by the wish to change from fresh to salt water and not have two lake events in a row. I think your hopes have been for Kiel and both Fred and I are grateful for your efforts in that direction. Hoping that you will understand the decisions made and hoping for your continued support to the class.
(John Lammerts van Bueren & Fred Meyer)"
